A shared attention,
what we seek to see,
our high intention
finds a common way
to look to the next place.
We come to listen,
care enough to feel
who the others are,
somehow learn to be
a part of what is greater.
Never our conviction
to drift so far apart,
and no longer hear
the beating of a heart
that is not ours alone.
Solitary, abandoned,
so very unaware,
we fail to understand
and mishear the command
for transformation
to a shared attention,
a simple life of trust.
What might become of us
if we risk it all for this
attention to existence.
