Alone at my desk
An old man with ink-stained hands
Where have the days gone?

I look at the page
Will anything I relay
Resonate this once?

Are they just more words
An old man would need to say
For his own soul’s sake?

Ring me on the phone
I spend too much time alone
Come and share my day
