Awake
Seeing in a fake world
A tribute to George Herbert

It is amazing how different people are from the outside. Inside they’re all the same. Take a few moments to discover how wonderful people are.

Awake
I am awake, at least I think,
I think that I still might see,
I might see the way real things are,
Real things, not the altered realities.
Altered so, to make me wonder
I wonder if I’ve lost my grasp,
A grasp so tenuous to truth,
Truth awash in a sea of lies.
A sea of fake imaginings,
Imagining more real than things that are,
Are these not phantoms that I see,
I see exactly what I want to think.
Can you believe anything you see on your smartphones at this point?
Inspired by George Herbert’s poem, “A Wreath,” and by Ted Gioia’s thoughts on our near-future grasp on reality.
Thank you for taking the time to read! I deeply appreciate your support.

Just finished a book about Plato. He would've loved this collab. 🎨 ✍️🏻
Thank you for reminding about the real things and truth.
