Fresh Rain
A welcome downpour in the desert
A simple poem

Today a downpour rattles through the gutters, courses down its way to the street.
The earth wet, soaked, darkened crevices filling, from the heat desiccate, drinks fast and deep.
Garden flowers bow with the water’s weight; some fall, separated in defeat.
Nourished, yet broken, punished, weakened limbs, urging to resuscitate, and for the sun to reach.
In the next moment the rains abruptly end, swift to evaporate, the smallest portion leave.
To face the torch again, with replenished strength, and learn to celebrate the fierce desert heat.
All the world may become a desert soon, as climate change shatters the normal patterns of the rains and seasons. Let us hope and work together to face our common struggle, so that nature can restore itself and celebrate its normal rhythms. It is in the best interest of life itself.
