Missing: An Anonymous One
A guest post from the poet, Jo L. Soske

Sheet of cardboard between his body and the concrete
Folded garbage bag protecting from the elements
Shattered dreams and depleted hopes
Is it a choice or the toss of the dice
that separates him from you and I
Will the soldiers come in the dark of the night
Ordering surrender of his final possession
A Delicate tether to the right to exist
Who will be his voice
Who will bear witness to the absence of an anonymous one
Clutched blanket seized from a dumpster
Pillow constructed of discarded plastic bags
Violated more times than she can count
Is it a choice or the toss of the dice
That separates her from you and I
Will the soldiers come in the dark of the night
Violating her one final time
Moving her body against her will
Who will be her voice
Who will bear witness to the absence of the anonymous one
