Poem | Allegory

Reality
Breaks across the bow
A wave, dark green and blue,
Cold and salty,
Forcing us now
To taste a bitter view.
Casualties
Yield, long and loud
To the overwhelming brew,
Sails prove to be faulty,
The deep invades the bow,
Bending under, out of view.
Honesty
Overcomes the proud
Hearts of the broken crew,
We stumble, faltering,
The winds spin and howl,
There is nothing we can do.
Travesties
Long ignored, allowed
To fester til the Truth,
All the good and lofty,
Has been forgotten now,
We cannot catch a clearer view.
Humility,
All that remains now,
Thoughts and prayers overdue,
The pleading of the haughty,
Blustering and cowed,
Finds the silence of the tomb.
