One should never speak
Louder than he thinks,
Most especially
If there are millions
Who follow his lead.
One’s responsibility
Expands with his power,
Words you choose to utter
Somehow matter more
With each mindless decree.
Silence lies beyond
Those intoxicated
By the laudation of men,
For which there is
No final denouement.
So, you speak louder
With each discourse,
As if the breath of force
Might speak out of existence
Resistant whispers.
Communication,
Compassionate voices,
Quietly confront this
False authority,
Bring their own resolution.
The ones who speak the loudest
Betray their deepest fear,
The arrogant, the proudest,
The weakest minds, confounded
By those who choose to think.
The louder you speak,
The longer we shall resist.
(We won’t just pass the burger and fries)
I currently post my poems without a paywall so that everyone can read and comment. I write to communicate, connect, and spread compassion and critical thought. We all need encouragement these days.
Some of you donate to my work as paid subscribers ($5/month or $30/year), and I sincerely appreciate your support. This is a great help to me, making it possible for me to continue writing and to extend beyond the poems into future music efforts.
Thank you to all who take the time to read and connect.
