A Protest Song
Why do you look
where there are no answers,
gaping at holes in the underlayment,
wondering when the roof will fail
and the house will crumble,
such a great, ignominious event?
Do you cherish the disgrace
you surely bring upon us,
what is it that you gain
from the anger and the chaos,
do you think for a moment
anything will be the same?
You take their lives,
and steal their honor,
you feed them lies
drenched in disorder,
all that ever mattered
was the power of your name.
Soon, it comes to an end,
the sun conquers the wind,
evening settles to routine,
and life regains its meaning;
when you are long forgotten,
faded forever from the scene.
You take their lives,
and steal their honor,
you feed them lies
drenched in disorder,
all that ever mattered
was the power of your name.
The endless pursuit of power at any expense, using the lives and efforts of honorable men and women in the military for dishonorable ends. Sowing division and potential death for political gain must cease.
It is time to stand down and quietly resist. Or all that will remain are hollow hearts and a broken country.
