we may not intend;
each rung should be clear.
For at issue here,
descent or ascent,
steps lead to where
what we hold most dear
may be lost instead;
each rung should be clear.
If we falter here,
what will come in the end?
Steps lead to where
our most dreaded fear
we will face, intent;
each rung should be clear.
The day now appears,
the urgent moment when
steps lead to where
each rung should be clear.
