A Simple Poem | Reflection
The cell,
a room with one
window,
a place
to rest.
The cell,
a prison for one
soul,
captive,
restless.
The choice,
hope, perspective
matters,
beauty,
cold.
The cell,
bar-less window,
three flowers
peer through,
alone.

My infatuation with windows is on the border of obsession. Is this painting, the inside of the space is unidentifiable and spatially collapsed. The choice of hue for the wall is ethereal and decomposes to allow the three scaleless flowers to optically enter the space regardless of the barrier ergo the surreal transparency. This leaves the viewer unsure where is the inside or the outside. My confusion with the world and its ugliness is beyond repair at this time.- Moh’d Bilbeisi, 2018
