The desert awaits,
Its solitude intends
To bring me to the end
Of my confused state.
It already knows
I can go no longer,
My weakness conquers me
With every step.
There is no turning back,
Nothing lies behind,
The others have gone blind
And fallen in the trap.
There is no second chance,
No better choice to make,
No excuse to take,
Lest anyone confess
No one had the answers
To face the warring tyrant;
In fear of him, they plead
Their stay of execution.
Deception brought us cancers
Of anger and division,
Exposure to dread diseases,
Lands filled with confusion.
The world we know has passed
Quickly in the night,
No graces left intact,
This season overdue.
Tell me how we learn
To reclaim our self-respect,
Call this lie for what it is,
And take the journey yet
Through this desert that awaits us,
To the Truth we know,
This, the only One we must
Learn again to follow.
“To deceive another person implies a fundamental disrespect, a failure to take him seriously. It ignores the value that inheres in every man as a spiritual person, shows a disregard of the dignity of man, of the elementary right that every person possesses to know the truth.”
