The Impasse
Facing the ICE glacier
A Resistance Poem

The impasse
stares me
in the face,
as if it means
to erase
any chance
of a future.
Hard,
unyielding,
it keeps
a death grip;
stands firm
in its resolve
to break me.
I will remain,
alone,
I will not
give the ground
I know
is mine
to hold.
I will not flinch,
turn my gaze,
but look it
straight away;
no silence as
its hidden
friend.
