The Testing
When it strikes you
The testing
comes sneaking,
watching for its
opportunity
to strike.
Watch for it,
know it’s coming,
it won’t be long,
you know this
after all.
When you least
suspect a thing,
it will come,
calling you
by name.
No one is spared,
and the song
often ends in
a minor
key.
I wish this place
were better
than it is,
certain it
is not.
They say that sin
misses the mark,
so it does,
sounds simple
enough.
The question then
still remains;
what target
is struck,
if not me?
I have never learned to rejoice in suffering. I’ve always found it to be the unfair consequence of circumstance or (and most likely very often) the lack of caring on the part of other humans. Most of us are nearly invisible to one another most of the time. Our sins strike those whom we do not see, or don’t care to see.
Thank you for taking the time to read! I deeply appreciate your support.
