The Will to Live
We were never left alone

The will to live
despite the slaughter,
grace to smile
despite the laughter
of the bullies
at the helm,
knowing what
becomes of them.
They can pillage,
rape or plunder,
in the end
life fights on
when the fire
takes the village,
burns it all
to the ground.
Look beneath
heaps of ash
turn the soil
just a bit,
nature speaks,
it does not ask,
it will have
no more of it.
In the end
they will answer
to the death
they will upon
the aged and
the hopeless,
the widows
and their sons.
The daughters
of the earth,
the angels
set in heaven
sing again
before the throne,
as they gather
all to one.
Life comes,
it does return,
we are never
left alone.
