A melancholy poem
Sometimes good enough
Is all you’re gonna get,
Sometimes all you do
Is make it out of bed,
And wander through the day
With a cloud inside your head,
But you do it anyway,
What would you do instead?
Sometimes what you say
Is just misunderstood,
Sometimes your only play
Leaves you worse off than it should,
They say to grin and bear it,
It all comes out in the end,
But every time you hear it,
It just rattles in your head.
The day’s somehow the same,
Another verse in a sad song,
Each moment its own pain,
And you just plod along
With that smile upon your face,
It’s all you’re gonna get,
You have to find the grace
That’s hidden in the wreck.
Sometimes good enough
Doesn’t seem so good at all,
That cloud inside your head,
It might rise, or it might fall,
Some of it is up to you,
Most is just beyond your reach,
Sometimes a better view
Comes in focus when you peek
Through the cloud that lingers there,
So briefly see, if you dare.
